AI Opportunity Assessment
A structured working session that maps how your team actually spends its week, then ranks the tasks AI can take over by hours saved and risk.
AI consulting · Fresno, California
I'm Aaron Tenney. Thirty-five years building software, five years working hands-on with AI. I help small businesses, churches and nonprofits replace their most tedious, repetitive work with a handful of AI workflows that hold up under real deadlines.
No pitch deck, no obligation. If AI is the wrong answer for your problem, I will say so.
Aaron Tenney
AI consultant & trainer · Fresno, CA
The AI Disciple is an AI consulting and training practice run by Aaron Tenney in Fresno, California. It helps small businesses, churches and nonprofits find the three to five tasks in their week that AI can genuinely take over, builds those workflows properly, and trains the team to run them without a consultant on speed dial.
The work is deliberately unglamorous: quoting, scheduling, reporting, research, drafting, translation, data clean-up. Every engagement starts with a free 20-minute call and a plain answer about whether AI is worth your money at all.
What I do
Most engagements start with an assessment and grow into ongoing support. You can also hire me for a single piece.
A structured working session that maps how your team actually spends its week, then ranks the tasks AI can take over by hours saved and risk.
I build the actual workflow — the prompts, the templates, the checks, the handoffs — so the output is repeatable instead of a lucky answer you can't reproduce next week.
Hands-on sessions with your actual staff and your actual work — not a generic webinar. People leave able to do their own job faster, with the guardrails they need.
A monthly arrangement for organizations that want a person to call when something breaks, a tool changes, or a new idea needs a sanity check. Discounted for six months and up.
Thirty-five years of professional development behind it: C#, ASP.NET, Angular and modern web. Useful when the AI plan runs into an aging system that needs fixing first.
Scripted, narrated, captioned video produced with AI — in English and Urdu. Eighty-four films published so far, used by Sunday schools from California to Kenya to Pakistan.
An AI presenter trained on your face and your voice, so you can publish video without being on camera — and an honest read on which two platforms are actually worth your time. Built on the pipeline behind 471 videos in nine months, in English and Urdu.
Why most AI pilots stall
Almost every organization I talk to has already tried ChatGPT. Somebody on staff used it for a week, got a few impressive answers and a few embarrassing ones, and quietly went back to doing it the old way.
That is not a tool failure. It is a workflow failure. A useful AI process needs a defined input, a tested prompt, a place the output goes, a person who owns it, and a check that catches it when it is wrong. Build those five things and the same task stops eating four hours a week. Skip them and you get a novelty.
How an engagement runs
No long contracts to get started, and nothing you cannot walk away from.
We talk about what is actually eating your week. I will tell you honestly whether AI is likely to help, what it would take, and roughly what that costs. Plenty of these calls end with me telling someone to fix a spreadsheet instead.
A structured working session with you and the people who do the work. You leave with a written shortlist of the three to five workflows worth building, ranked by hours saved, plus the risks and what each one needs.
I build the workflows, train your team on them, and write them down so they keep running without me. Most clients then move onto a monthly retainer for the questions that come up later.
In their words
Aaron's technical skills, teamwork, and business focus made him an invaluable contributor to our development team. The way he gladly receives and gives help to and from others contributes to a culture of servant leadership among the team.
I have known Aaron Tenney for over 20 years. He is a man of integrity and Christian principles. For the past 20 years my husband and I have served as missionaries in Kenya. Finding high-quality Christian media in Swahili for our 17 church Sunday schools is a challenge. The AI Disciple has met that need.
Beyond the cartoons, he has provided wonderful tools for using AI to lighten the workload in ministry — from spreadsheets to photo collages to translating texts we send to our 20 Kenyan pastors. If you want to work smarter and have more time for reaching people for Jesus, I highly recommend him.
It is with a high recommendation that I suggest Aaron Tenney to you as a very capable IT professional. I have known Aaron for more than 20 years. He has used his excellent skill set to create a unique relationship between us and our community of followers. We talk weekly and he is always suggesting new ways to connect with people. His honesty and integrity are his greatest strengths.
Proof, not promises
The fastest way to judge a consultant is to look at what they have actually shipped. In the last nine months I have written, produced, narrated and published 471 videos in English and Urdu — narrated Scripture films for congregations, true-story biographies, archaeology and background explainers, practical AI teaching, and 84 animated Bible stories for children.
Every one of them runs through the same kind of repeatable pipeline I build for clients: research, script, narration, animation, captions, thumbnails and multi-platform publishing. That output is not a hobby — it is the proof that the workflows work. The films are used by Sunday schools in California, by 17 churches in Kenya and by families in Pakistan.

Two things that cost nothing
I am building a business and I do need paying clients. I also think a church with no budget, or someone who has never opened ChatGPT, should be able to get somewhere without paying me first.
Narrated Scripture films built as a visual aid for your message, multi-week teaching series, children's Bible cartoons, testimony and appeal films, and versions in other languages. Plus AI training for church staff and a plain rule about what must never go into a chat window.
Churches also get the free training, the free children's library and a free consultation — whether or not anything is ever invoiced.
A free beginner course for anyone, no matter who you are — business owner, pastor, student, volunteer, or someone who has been quietly nodding along in meetings for a year. Six short lessons, no jargon, nothing to install.
Ask for it through the contact form and I email you a private link myself, usually the same day. No card, no subscription, no autoresponder sequence.
Straight answers

An AI consultant finds the specific tasks in your organization that artificial intelligence can reliably take over, builds those workflows, and trains your staff to run them. In practice my work breaks into four parts: an assessment of how your team spends its week, a design and build phase for the three to five workflows worth automating, hands-on training with your actual staff, and ongoing support once it is live.
What it is not: selling you software, running a generic prompt webinar, or telling you that AI will transform your business. Most of the value comes from unglamorous work — quoting, reporting, research, drafting, scheduling, translation and data clean-up.
No. Most of my clients are business owners, office managers, pastors and nonprofit directors with no technical background at all. I explain things in plain English, and the workflows I build are designed so that a non-technical person on your staff can run them every day without help.
My own background is technical — 35 years of professional software development — but that is there so you do not have to be.
Small and medium organizations, typically between 2 and 200 people. That includes independent businesses, professional practices, churches, schools and nonprofits. I am deliberately built for organizations that do not have an IT department and cannot justify a large consulting firm.
Pricing depends on scope, so I quote each engagement individually after the free call. What I can tell you up front is the structure: engagements begin with a paid assessment, project work is quoted as a fixed scope, and ongoing help runs as a monthly retainer with a meaningful discount for agreements of six months or longer.
The free 20-minute call is genuinely free and you will get a realistic cost range on it. I would rather tell you the number early than waste both our time.
I am based in Fresno, California, and work in person with organizations across Fresno, Clovis and the wider Central Valley. Everything else — assessments, workflow build, training sessions and retainer support — works over video call, and I have clients and collaborators outside the United States, including in Kenya and Pakistan.
The tasks that work best share three traits: they repeat, they follow a pattern, and a human can check the result quickly. Common examples from real engagements:
Tasks that do not work well: anything requiring a legally binding judgment, anything where being confidently wrong is expensive and hard to spot, and anything that depends on information the model has no access to.
This is the most common thing I hear, and it is almost never a tool problem. Somebody on staff used ChatGPT for a week, got a few impressive answers and a few embarrassing ones, and quietly went back to the old way.
A workflow that actually sticks needs five things a casual chat session does not have: a defined input, a tested prompt, a place the output goes, a person who owns it, and a check that catches it when it is wrong. Building those five things is most of what I do.
Yes. Churches, ministries and Christian nonprofits are a core part of the practice, not a sideline. That covers two different things: video production — narrated Scripture films, teaching series, children's Bible material, testimony and appeal films — and practical AI help for the church office, from turning one sermon into every format you publish, to translation for partner congregations, to a written rule about what must never be typed into a chat window.
Churches that are just getting started also get real things at no charge: the free AI training course, the free children's Bible library, a free consultation and an honest answer about whether AI helps you at all. There is a full page on working with churches.
Send a request through the contact form and choose Free AI training from the dropdown. Aaron emails you a private link to the videos personally, normally within one business day.
The reason it goes through the form rather than a download button is so the link comes from a real person you can write back to with questions. Your email is used to send the link and answer you — there is no list and no newsletter unless you ask for one. Details are on the free training page.
Book the free 20-minute call. Come with one honest answer to one question: what does your team keep doing by hand that everyone quietly hates? That is almost always where the first workflow lives.
You can book a call here or email aaron@theaidisciple.com.
Twenty minutes, no cost, no pitch deck. Tell me what your team keeps doing by hand and I will tell you honestly whether AI can take it off their plate.
